This program is made up of a selection of Tones o Songs of the Spanish Golden Age of the best composers from this time such as Juan Hidalgo or Sebastián Durón.
A tone is a solo song with generally profane text whose origin is found in the songs or airs of comedies, operas and zarzuelas. These songs were detached from the original works for which they were originally intended, and became part of an independent repertoire within court circles, not only Spanish, but also Austrian and French, where this music was very successful. The musical characteristics of human tones are their simple melody, with a popular air, and their great rhythmic complexity, highlighted by the accompaniment of the Spanish guitar.
